Tim Church is a tattooist from Hull, UK, and tattoos out of Sainthood tattoos. His style is predominantly traditional based, leaning heavily on classic flash from the early 1900’s.
Tim, What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
"Growing up I was heavily influenced by music, mainly the hardcore/punk scene. I played in a few bands over the years and was I getting tattooed a fair bit. I spent a lot of my spare time hanging out in tattoo shops and getting tattooed which eventually lead to an apprenticeship. It didn’t come easy though, the guy I worked for was really old school and it was the case of if you’re not tough headed it’s not for you. I worked in a street shop for around 5 years doing everything that walked in the door, probably the best thing I ever did as it gave me the fundamentals in tattooing and really helped develop my craft. After that I worked privately in a friends shop over the next three years whilst doing regular guest spots at other shops. I’m now currently working at Sainthood Tattoo in Hull where I’ve been for the last few years."
